First Windows Phone 7

Microsoft's Aaron Woodman just pulled off a little surprise here at The Engadget Show: he brought out LG's Windows Phone 7 Series pre-production prototype! The QWERTY slider is the first branded Windows Phone 7 Series device the world's ever seen, and while the hardware and software are both obviously early, we can tell you a few things about it: it's just a hair thicker than an iPhone or Nexus One, there are dedicated hardware camera, volume, and power buttons in addition to the back, home, and search buttons dictated by Windows Phone 7 Series, and we noticed a five megapixel camera with a flash on the back, along with a headphone jack. Can't say much apart from that right now, since things are so early and everything is subject to change, but things are certainly moving along.

I - Phone 4G
Much of the talk over recent weeks has focused on the Google Nexus One and various other Android handsets.
Not used to being eclipsed, the iPhone and its legion of loyal owners are looking to reclaim the limelight with a number of intriguing iPhone 4G rumours.

I - Phone 4G
This is, of course, just a rumour, but the features listed above are hardly exciting enough to doubt. These are all features present in the latest Android offerings to come out of CES 2010 this week.

I - Phone 4G
If further rumours are to be believed, we'll be able to tell you in April whether Apple has been successful it's latest offering or not.

I - Phone 4G
One thing's for sure: the spotlight will be firmly back on Apple come the 26th of January and Steve Jobs's keynote speech at MacWorld, where the media world will be waiting with baited breath."

Coca Cola-Powered Cellphone

Coca Cola-Powered Cellphone
Chinese designer Daizhi Zheng has created a mobile phone that uses sweet drinks like Coca Cola instead of lithium batteries.

Zheng has been working on this revolutionary device for Finnish cellphone giant Nokia, and claims he has come up with a way of using sugar-based drinks to power mobiles. Any sweet drink, even sugar-sweetened water would be enough to keep the phone running much longer than lithium batteries.

The bio-battery invented by Daishi Zheng generates electricity from carbohydrates, using special enzymes as catalysts. In the process, the device generates oxygen and water. The designer claims his sugar-based bio-battery lasts up to four times longer than a fully charged lithium battery and is much easier to recharge: just pour some more sweet fuel.

Lithium batteries are very expensive and harmful for the environment, so if Zheng’s Coke-powered cellphone turns out to be real, it would be a significant breakthrough.
